The project: We are currently recruiting for a talented, motivated and ambitious Cost Consultant to join our expanding utilities, water, energy and nuclear commercial consultancy team.
Responsible for providing end-to-end cost consultancy services, including cost planning, budgeting, forecasting and procurement. Supports projects through pre- and post-award stages, ensuring contract compliance, effective administration and value delivery across the supply chain.
Provision of a "cradle to grave" commercial function for all work packages making up the commission.
Please Note: This role will require a presence in our client offices based in Cambridgeshire 2-3 days per week.
You'll be responsible for:
* Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports. Applying the value management techniques at the outset of a project.
* Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
* Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
* Being a key interface with client, stakeholders and other consultants at all project stages.
* Handling of contractual frameworks and standard form of contract.
* Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and hence improve the services provided to the clients.
* Identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
You'll need to have:
* Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice in a similar role.
* Previous experience working in Infrastructure sectors (Ideally Utilities/Water sectors but not essential).
* NEC form of contract experience essential.
* Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.
* Some knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred (or other commercially related discipline).
* NEC PM Accreditation (Desired).
