About the role
As Gin Maintenance Manager, you will support and inspire our engineering teams while coordinating maintenance and engineering activities across our gin distilleries. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering a sustainable maintenance strategy, enhancing asset reliability, overseeing capital projects, and developing the skills and capabilities of your team.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on operational performance through collaboration, continuous improvement, proactive maintenance, and people-focused leadership. Working closely with operational and technical stakeholders, you will help create an environment where safety, reliability and continuous learning enable long-term business success.
What you will do
Engineering Leadership & Maintenance Excellence
* Support, coach and develop engineering teams across our gin distilleries, creating an inclusive and engaging working environment.
* Foster a culture of safety, shared responsibility, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
* Implement and maintain effective Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Asset Management Systems.
* Support the team in achieving industry-leading maintenance management standards and best practices.
* Work collaboratively to identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, availability and operational effectiveness.
* Encourage knowledge sharing, capability development and continuous learning across the engineering function.
Operational Engineering Support
* Coordinate corrective maintenance, repairs, overhauls, equipment modifications and replacement programmes.
* Ensure technical documentation, drawings and engineering records are maintained in line with company standards.
* Deliver annual distillery shutdown programmes safely, efficiently and within agreed timelines.
* Partner with operational teams to align engineering resources with production priorities and business needs.
* Provide technical guidance and support to help resolve engineering challenges and improve site performance.
Safety, Compliance & Governance
* Maintain engineering legal compliance across all relevant legislation and company standards.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, Site Security and environmental requirements.
* Issue and maintain Work Authorities and Permits to Work.
* Support effective engineering change management processes, ensuring documentation, certification and handover procedures are completed to a high standard.
* Promote safe and responsible ways of working, encouraging engagement and continuous improvement in safety performance.
Project & Budget Management
* Prepare and manage engineering revenue and capital expenditure budgets.
* Manage engineering expenditure responsibly in line with agreed budgets.
* Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to successfully deliver capital projects ranging from approximately £1m to £5m.Ensure projects comply with current legislation, CDM requirements and company engineering standards.
* Build effective relationships with internal teams, contractors and service providers to support successful delivery of engineering activities.
* Contribute to the identification and implementation of opportunities that enhance operational performance and long-term asset sustainability.
Your skills and background
* Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline, equivalent professional experience, or a combination of relevant qualifications and experience.
* Experience leading, coaching or developing engineering teams within a manufacturing or process environment. Experience managing maintenance systems, asset reliability programmes and engineering best practices.
* Ability to balance multiple priorities while working collaboratively in a dynamic operational environment.
* Strong budget management and project delivery experience. Thorough understanding of engineering, compliance, health & safety and regulatory requirements.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across a range of teams and stakeholders.
* A passion for continuous improvement, developing others, and creating positive business outcomes.
