Position Summary
Your key responsibilities

Samsung is directly affected by a wide range of laws and regulations, as well as constantly changing demands from customers and other stakeholders. The Sustainability Affairs Manager is needed to ensure that compliance requirements are met, support the development/ implementation of policies and strategies to address legal obligations, and work with both external stakeholders and internal teams to support the diverse needs of the business. As a member of the UK Legal, Compliance and Sustainability team, you will be helping deliver innovative programmes to ensure Samsung Electronics UK (SEUK) is at the forefront of industry best practice.

* Lead on environmental and social sustainability issues within SEUK through expert knowledge on specialist issues, e.g. Extended producer responsibility, eco-design of products, hazardous chemicals management, energy efficiency, energy and carbon reporting, and Human rights and labour issues.
* Arranging reporting, payment and providing calculations relating to: WEEE, Batteries, Packaging, GHG, F-Gas, Energy / Carbon, Energy Saving, and others.
* Advising on the contents of / drafting SEUK's TCFD reporting in Financial Statements and ensure CSRD compliance when / where required.
* Developing, maintaining and enforcing local SEUK policies on Sustainability and Human Rights.
* Drafting SEUK's Annual Modern Slavery Statement.
* Provide support on global sustainability issues and manage environmental and social sustainability compliance and reporting requirements on product and operational related issues.
* Actively support SEUK as the key liaison for all external environmental and social sustainability queries from NGOs, Trade Bodies, governments, etc.
* Represent the company to UK and Irish Government and relevant external bodies, such as techUK, AMDEA, NGOs and lobby groups, enforcement authorities, major customers, distributors, and partner companies.
* Support Public Affairs / Government Affairs teams to shape UK and Irish Government policy environment to one that opens markets and benefits key Samsung environmentally-friendly products/solutions.
* Monitor regional & national policy developments, assessing the impacts to the company, recommending response/preparation strategies, and coordinate implementation of SEUK corporate policy and compliance strategy.

* Leadership - ability to be the lead expert on key topics
* Analytical - great attention to detail
* Self-motivated and proactive - can work well alone but also cooperates with others, passionate, committed
Hard Skills:
* Excellent written and spoken English
* MS Office skills, in particular Excel
Experience Required:
* Excellent and demonstrable understanding of the UK and/or European policy and regulatory landscape relating to Sustainability, in particular relating to Extended Producer Responsibilities.
* Professional experience of product compliance / government affairs / policy work, preferably with product types in Samsung's portfolio.
* Degree level education in a relevant subject.
* A desirable skill would be knowledge of eco-design / material efficiency topics such as product reparability, recyclability and adaptability.

What does success look like?

Success will be effective management, compliance and leadership of the key responsibilities mentioned for this role. The successful candidate will quickly establish good relationships and effective communication with both internal and external partners, leading to the candidate being recognised as internal key expert and lead on related topics. The role requires self-motivation and the ability to work well with a variety of different partners.

Success at Samsung Electronics is measured through annual task-based goals, along with performance-based goals set every six months.
