Job Description:

Robotics Technician

About Roboverse Reply:
Roboverse Reply is the Reply Group company specialising in robotics integration for complex outdoor environments. Our mission is to empower organisations in complex outdoor sectors to confidently adopt robotics through expert consulting, seamless integration, and rigorous testing - ensuring that technology always serves the business. We work across Agriculture, Construction, Defence, Energy, and Facilities & Infrastructure Management, delivering end-to-end robotics solutions that drive measurable ROI and sustainable business growth. We are not just deploying hardware - we sell organisational change enabled by advanced robotics, bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and real-world operational impact.
We are in our Year 1 foundation phase, building the core team and technology stack that will underpin everything we do. This is a rare opportunity to join at the very beginning and shape a business from the ground up.

Role Overview:
As a Robotics Technician, you will ensure robotic platforms are operational, support testing and demonstrations, and enable the engineering team to focus on development activities. You will work within a small team of engineers, technicians, and consultants, contributing to proof-of-concept delivery, client engagements, and the development of testing capabilities. This is a highly field-based role, requiring regular work outdoors, on client sites, and at testing grounds in real and sometimes challenging conditions. You will help establish testing environments and support early projects, with opportunities to progress into robotics software engineering, testing and regulatory specialisation, or training and on-site support based on your development.
This is a unique opportunity to play a foundational role in building the team and defining the technical direction, working at the core of product development to create the autonomy stack that underpins the offering, supported by the stability and network of the Reply Group. You will deliver cross-sector impact across industries such as agriculture, construction, defence, energy, and facilities management, working on real-world robotics in outdoor, unstructured environments solving real problems. This is a hybrid-based role with regular field testing at outdoor sites.

Responsibilities:
* Maintain, configure, and prepare robotic platforms for testing, demonstrations, and client engagements
* Support the setup and operation of testing environments, including physical testing grounds, ensuring safe and efficient trials
* Assist robotics engineers during field trials, proof-of-concept demonstrations, and client site visits
* Manage inventory of robotic hardware, sensors, spare parts, and test equipment
* Perform pre-test checks, calibrations, and post-test diagnostics to ensure system performance
* Document test configurations, fault logs, maintenance records, and lessons learned
* Assist with ROS 2 configuration, launch file setup, and data logging during trials
* Contribute to health and safety assessments, support equipment transport, and help develop repeatable testing procedures

About the Candidate:
* A degree in robotics, mechatronics, computer science, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related discipline
* Linked or transferable skills, along with consulting experience or a strong interest in consulting, are highly desirable
* Demonstrable hands-on experience with robotic systems (university projects, research, internships, or professional work)
* Comfortable working outdoors in variable conditions as a core part of the role
* Practical aptitude, with confidence in working with hardware, diagnosing faults, and getting systems operational
* Basic Linux command-line competence and familiarity with ROS 2
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for equipment tracking, record keeping, and following procedures
* Full UK driving licence and professional fluency in English for technical communication
* Experience with mobile robotic platforms and knowledge of common sensors (LiDAR, IMUs, GNSS, depth cameras) would be beneficial
* Experience in software development using Python or C++ within a robotics context, along with 3D printing, rapid prototyping, or fabrication skills, would be advantageous
* An interest in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, defence, energy, or facilities management would be advantageous

Applicants who do not meet every requirement are nevertheless encouraged to submit an application. We are happy to discuss how their skills and experience could align with this position
