DaVita Physicians Solutions has established a partnership with Epic, the market leader in Electronic Health Records (EHRs), with the dual goal of maximizing physician satisfaction and improving the quality outcomes of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients.

Effectively managing patients with CKD is critical to ensuring a healthy transition to dialysis, should a patient's condition progress to end-stage renal disease. Nearly 80 percent of patients who make an unprepared transition to dialysis start with a central venous catheter as their access for treatment, which is associated with higher infection and mortality rates. Poor transition management is also costly-just the first-month post-transition can cost the health care system $35,000 per patient. Thus, it is important for the tools and support we deliver to manage the CKD patient population are top tier, progressive, promote interoperability, and aid in population management.

Our customers are different from the typical outpatient Epic customer. Our branded solution, DaVita Physician Solutions CKD EHR by Epic, is being sold to practices that are independently owned and operated and range from one physician and up. All of our customers are trained, brought live, and supported remotely. Additionally, we are deploying Epic to certain internal DaVita teams for solving their clinical documentation needs and actively seeking other areas of opportunity that can benefit from DaVita Physician Solutions CKD EHR by Epic.

Our goals are physician satisfaction and improving CKD quality. We strive to meet these goals through superior end-user support, elevating end-user Epic knowledge, and configuring optimal nephrology workflows.
