CREAF is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work in the FOREST-LED project (Forest loss, expansion and development over the last 30 years in spain: spatiotemporal patterns, impact of hazards and multifunctional management) with ref. PID2023-152828OB-I00 and funded by Ministerio de Ciencias, Innovacion y Universidades.
The aim of the project FOREST-LED is to understand the forest changes after 30 years of natural disturbances and socio-economic events in Spain just in the moment in which we are experiencing unprecedented extreme climatic events. For this reason, it is essential to monitor the processes related to forest loss (forest degradation and deforestation) and forest expansion (afforestation, reforestation and forest development) and to quantify their contribution to carbon stocks. The project also seeks to identify the effectiveness of past multifunctional forest management practices to enhance forest health and give comprehensive knowledge to forest managers to implement more effective forest treatments.
A full-time contract is offered (37.5 hours per week) with immediate incorporation and a duration of 18 months, with the possibility of extension if required and if the budget allows. The gross annual salary offered is EUR 34.126,49 (corresponding to category I4).

MAIN FUNCTIONS
* Coordination of project tasks
* Support in field sampling of forest variables
* Definition and creation of databases (including spatial information), both on servers and locally
* Processing of alphanumeric and spatial forest data
* Statistical analysis of alphanumeric and spatial data
* Preparation of reports and other communication and knowledge transfer tasks related to the field of work
* Writing of scientific articles

REQUIREMENTS

* PhD in Biology or Ecology.
* Experience with programming languages such as R.
* Proven experience in statistical analysis.
* Proven experience in writing scientific and technical articles.
* Advanced user of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial databases: MiraMon, QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, PostGIS, etc.
* Ability to work in a team.
* Advanced level of Spanish and Catalan; written English.
* Holder of a Category B driving licenes.

ASESSABLE CONDITIONS
* Knowledge of remote sensing formats and applications, as well as GIS.
* Proven experience in the use of SQL and spatial SQL functions
* Advanced user in the creation and management of PostgreSQL databases (both server-based and local).
* Candidates with a certified disability of 33% or more will be prioritized, provided the disability is compatible with the position's responsibilities.

SELECTION PROCES AND CRITERIA
