Life Support Technician

JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda including Saudisation and the training and development of Saudi National capability through the growth of the Saudi National Partner Companies thereby reinforcing Industrialisation and Partnerships.
The main objective is to support the flying programme at KFAA by ensuring the efficient accomplishment of H&AT Training aircraft AEA (Aircrew Equipment Assemblies) maintenance activities for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and that work is carried out in a managed and controlled manner and in accordance with all applicable technical data.
The post holder will be responsible for;
· Expediting the Life Support Section and Parafab maintenance activities being carried out on all H&AT AEA at KFAA Al-Majmaah. They will also be responsible for conducting section maintenance tasks to ensure the efficient completion of scheduled, non- scheduled, aircraft maintenance and section support tasks.
· Supporting Flying Operations, ensuring the shift organization can meet task requirements and for maintaining close liaison with maintenance Operations Control, Quality Department and Intermediate Maintenance to prioritise and progress aircraft work.
· Providing On the Job Training (OJT) function and task certification.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
* To provide technical specialty support in the: evaluation, interpretation, determinations of requisite corrective actions, performance and operational status of specialty specific aircraft systems and components.
* Responsible for the management, supervision and training of SNTTP manpower. Ensuring assigned maintenance technicians are fully trained and certified to accomplish assigned tasks.
* Accountable for section tool control procedures and section technical publication sub-section.
* To provide informal and formal On the Job Training (OJT) for all personnel to enable either RSAF or civilian Saudisation of Intermediate Maintenance operations.
* Able to acquire user expertise and become conversant with the RSAF aircraft data management and tracking computer system -MIRO Gold.
* Able to understand and comply with the RSAF Safety and Foreign Object Programme Planning ahead for any changes in the daily/weekly flying program and managing manpower and resources accordingly.
* Providing up to date briefings and information to all concerned parties on daily progress and any issues affecting the work area.

Aircraft Maintenance and Planning
· With instruction, direction and guidance from the Supervisor I.M. & MOC, be able to plan manpower/shift allocation to meet continually changing maintenance priorities and tasks. Must interpret / evaluate immediate task demands and prioritise work activities in respect of available personnel, support equipment, technical manuals, tools, manpower and spare parts

Manpower Management & Control
· Takes action to address poor performance of Trainee's

Quality Assurance and Control
· Has responsibility, as far as is considered fair and practicable, for ensuring the personnel he is supervising have the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out the task in hand and that the task is completed I.A.W. RSAF TOs/publications, Quality system process and M&CA mandates.
· Provides sufficient direct supervision where required of personnel to ensure quality standards are maintained.
· Investigates and provides reports on technical issues and accident/incident events.
· Ensures effective house keeping programme is maintained.
· Prepares for and co-operates with all internal/external audits.

Co-ordination of Technical Activities
· Ensures that sound maintenance practices and documentation procedures are followed at all times.
· Before delegating any task, ensures all personnel are authorised/certified to accomplish the task.
· Ascertains that pre use checks are carried out as required, on the equipment used in the task he is supervising.

Manpower training and Certification
· Provides on-the-job theory and practical training.
· Promotes the personal development of himself and others.
· Assesses the competency of team personnel and informs the Life Support Supervisor of any deficiencies.
· Certifies personnel for specific tasks when certified as a 'Work Place Trainer'.

Logistics Support
· Ensures accurate demands for replacement components/parts are placed as soon as possible.
· Ensures the required by and impact dates for demands are accurately recorded.
· Monitors the forecast date for demands in conjunction with the project plan and places on the 'critical list' any that are likely to impact the programme.
· Highlights to the Life Support Supervisor demands likely to impact the aircraft programme.
· Ascertains whether serviceable and calibrated test equipment is available for the planned tasks, and if not informs the life support Supervisor.

Managerial Responsibilities
· Deputises, if required, for the Life Support Supervisor.
· Establishes and maintains positive relations with internal and external customers.
* Ensure accurate information flow is maintained to and from designated area of responsibility.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential

· A recognised qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or suitable equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA.
· Have extensive post qualification practical maintenance experience within operational flying aircraft environment supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training.
· Relevant type training and equipment specific training if required.
· Demonstrate knowledge/understanding of aircraft maintenance and engineering.
· Be able to motivate people in a mixed EE/SN workforce
· Must be able to demonstrate experience in Life Support Equipment within an Aviation AMO environment.
· Computer literacy is essential, with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, GOLDesp systems.
· Understanding and application of human factors, error management, health & safety and proactive hazard analysis, appropriate to the role.
· The successful candidate, Saudi or Expatriate must obtain Saudi Council of
*Engineers (SCE) membership at the appropriate level, prior to starting the new role or commencing employment in KSA, SCE membership must be maintained throughout their employment in this role.
