Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), through its Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia (SOENEA), supports regional cooperation and sustainable development initiatives in North-East Asia, including work related to environment, sustainable development, and regional partnerships. The SOENEA was established by a UN General Assembly Resolution and was inaugurated on 17 May 2010 in Sondgo, Incheon in the Republic of Korea to support the six member countries: China, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation. SOENEA is currently the only comprehensive multilateral hub for all six North-East Asian countries and also serves as the Secretariat of the North-East Asian Subregional Programme for Environmental Cooperation (NEASPEC). The internship programme is for a period of three to six months. The internship is UNPAID and full time. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the SOENEA office. The selected interns will be responsible for the followings: * Design and produce event flyers, posters, factsheets, infographics, and visual communication materials; * Prepare PowerPoint presentations and communication products; * Produce short promotional video clips and event highlights; * Support website and social media content development; * Assist in photography, video editing, and multimedia production; * Support branding and layout design in accordance with UN visual identity guidelines; * Assist in outreach and visibility activities related to meetings and regional forums; Perform other related duties as assigned;
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). 0
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
