Duties and Responsibilities
Envisaged starting date and duration: June 2026, 6 months. The internship is UNPAID and part-time - 20 hours/week. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) works to support Member States in addressing drugs, crime, corruption, and terrorism, in line with its vision of "making the world safer from drugs, crime, corruption and terrorism." Within the Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (ROSEAP), the Corruption and Economic Crime Hub contributes to this vision by strengthening integrity, enhancing institutional capacity, and supporting the prevention of and addressing corruption and economic crime in line with the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and other international standards. This also includes areas such as sports integrity and anti-corruption education. This internship is located in the Corruption and Economic Crime Hub, specifically in Bangkok, Thailand. The Intern will report to the relevant Programme Officer(s) within the Hub. The internship is designed to support the development and implementation of the Hub's communications approach, including support to the development of a Communications Strategy and related outputs. Under the supervision of the team, the Intern will: * Support the development and implementation of communications activities for the Hub; * Assist in drafting and editing communication materials, including web stories, short articles, newsletters, and social media content; * Support the preparation of communication products such as presentations, brochures, and visibility materials; * Assist in updating and maintaining web content; * Provide support in compiling inputs for communication outputs across different teams and countries; * Assist in basic research to support communication and outreach activities; * Support internal coordination, including note-taking and follow-up actions; * Assist in organizing communication-related materials and maintaining content trackers; * Perform other tasks as required in support of the team. This internship does not require prior professional experience. The Intern is expected to demonstrate a willingness to learn, good communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship being applied for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. programme, or have recently completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. programme. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Ability to draft brief communications, including short reports, news-style articles, or social media posts, is desirable. Ability to design surveys, polls, or simple data collection tools is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. The official languages of the United Nations are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.
