Job Summary and Qualifications
Position Summary To collaborate as a Lead Clinical Nutrition member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide patients of all age groups and acuity levels with high quality Medical Nutrition Therapy following the Nutrition Care Process. Note: The following is not intended to be a finite list of responsibilities for this position.
Major Responsibilities:
Quality
* Assists with oversight and supervision of the Clinical Dietitians and MNT program.
* Assists with interviewing, hiring, evaluations, as well as participating in coaching and the disciplinary process of all Clinical Nutrition team members.
* Performs timely nutrition screenings and assessments in accordance with the Hospital Screening and Assessment Policy.
* Perform nutrition focused physical exams on patients who are at nutritional risk.
* Develop and implement individualized nutritional care plans. Identify patient nutrition education needs and provide nutrition counseling to patients, family, and/or caregivers.
* Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
* Coordinates and implements MNT related performance improvement initiatives for the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
* Completes RD chart audits and AIDET audits and provides timely feedback to ensure clinical staff competency and to improve performance.
* Develops nutrition care guidelines and adheres to the nutrition care manual, department/facility guidelines and/or protocols to provide evidence based nutrition care
Specialty-Specific Responsibilities
* Serves as the clinical liaison for all shared governance councils and other committees as assigned.
* Attend, participate, and present nutrition information at the nutrition support committee meetings.
* Lead an annual clinical nutrition practice initiative, performance improvement and/or research project.

* Maintains a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
* Supports the development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience.
* Serves as a role model & advocate for AIDET and the Standards of Behavior.

* Trains and mentors new staff and/or dietetic interns to ensure consistent training of staff on policies and procedures
* Acts as a Coordinator for the Austin area Dietetic Internship Programs.
* Honor the value of diversity and treat everyone with dignity and respect
Growth
* Attend Leadership development seminars, WebEx, conferences as available.
* Complete identified leadership development training in Healthstream
Finance
* Responsible for Clinical Dietitian schedules and for monitoring employee attendance for timeliness and maintaining productivity standards.
* Oversees compliance to division EN formulary to maintain contract compliance and maximize rebates.
Other
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" and "Mission and Value Statement."
Education & Experience:
* Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
* Required: Master's Degree in Nutrition or related field, effective 1/1/2024
* Preferred: Minimum of two years supervisory/management experience
* Required: Minimum of two years of hospital clinical nutrition experience
Licensure, Certifications,Training: Credential*:
* Required: Registered Dietitian with Commission on Dietetic Registration
* Required: Advanced certification (RD-AP, CSP, CNSC, CDE, CSO, or equivalent)
* Required: Licensed by the StateDepartment of Licensing and Regulationor as required by state.
* Required: Registered Food Service Manager Certificate Grace Period: Within 1st year of employment
* Required: Employment in this position is contingent upon continued registration and licensure as a dietitian and advanced certification.
