We are looking for an experienced Consents Lead to support one of our utilities projects by managing consents activities, coordinating with statutory bodies, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory, environmental and planning requirements. This role plays a key part in enabling timely project delivery through effective stakeholder engagement, technical assurance and the implementation of best practice consents processes.
You'll be responsible for:
* Managing consents across major projects, ensuring full compliance with relevant policy, regulatory requirements and legislation.
* Developing and implementing consents strategies and plans to support successful and timely project delivery.
* Delivering specialist stakeholder and communications activities on assigned commissions under the guidance of senior team members, ensuring consistent adoption of approved frameworks and strategies.
* Supporting the development and implementation of consents strategy documents, contributing to the planning, coordination and management of statutory and regulatory approval processes.
* Assisting with option selection and providing informed advice to project teams on intervention scope to support best-practice decision-making.
* Working collaboratively across the project to capture lessons learned and apply best practice from other delivery areas within the organisation.
* Coordinating with statutory bodies - including the environment agency, natural England and local authorities - to maintain effective communication channels and support approvals.
* Providing oversight and assurance of environmental assessments and mitigation strategies, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and policy.
* Identifying consents-related risks, supporting active risk management processes and escalating issues where appropriate.
* Assisting with coordination of the land acquisition process, engaging with internal teams and external partners as required.
* Supporting stakeholder engagement and public consultation activities, ensuring alignment with project requirements and communication standards.
* Contributing to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of stakeholder, communications and consents methodologies across the wider team.
* Ensuring all consents, stakeholder and communications activities are aligned with Mace control centre standards, client expectations and applicable legislation.
You'll need to have:
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders.
* Degree or postgraduate qualification in geography, town and country planning, or a related discipline.
* Membership of or working towards membership of a relevant professional body such as RTPI or RICS.
* APM Foundation (or equivalent) or interest in working towards professional accreditation.
* Experience within construction, infrastructure or consultancy environments is beneficial.
