Huawei Heisenberg Research Center (Munich) is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.

Audiovisual Technology Lab of Heisenberg Research Center focuses on research, development and standardization for audio, image and video signal coding, processing, rendering.

Video team was actively involved into VVC/H.266 (video coding standard) and JPEG AI (the world first fully AI-based image coding standard) development.

Intern - Specialized on next generation video codec research (m/f/d)

Your mission

* Test existing AI-based and classical coding tools, evaluate performance and complexity (including power consumption).
* Targeting next generation video codec standard research and develop coding tools with compression performance vs complexity trade-off.
* Produce patents and scientific papers.

Your areas of expertise

* Ongoing study on Bachelor or Master's program in electrical engineering, informatics, telecommunications, or a related field.
* Experiences in video codec testing.
* In-depth experience power consumption evaluation.
* Solid understanding of AI-based coding algorithms.
* Experience with HEVC, VVC, AV1, JPEG AI.
* Good understanding for peculiarities of coding algorithm implementation for CPU, NPU and GPU.
* Fluent in written and spoken English language.
