YOUR ROLE
Modern automotive systems demand comprehensive validation of sensor fusion, ECU communication, and infotainment platforms. Conventional testing approaches using physical hardware are cost-prohibitive, labor-intensive, and constrained by limited scenario diversity.
This internship seeks to establish a complete virtual automotive development chain that integrates simulation environments, virtual ECUs, and hardware-in-the-loop testing methodologies. Specifically, it concentrates on building a seamless integration between the CARLA driving simulator and hardware virtualization framework (like Renode), validated through the implementation of algorithms executed on virtual ECUs interfaced with sensor data streams generated by CARLA's simulated environments.
Key activities:
* CARLA-Renode Integration
* Implement CARLA client with REST API interface
* Stream sensor data (LIDAR, radar, camera) from CARLA scenarios to Renode ECUs
* Synchronize CARLA simulation time with Renode execution
* ECU Firmware Development: implement firmware for sensor ECU (LIDAR/ACC processing) and control ECU (vehicle dynamics)
* Integration and Validation: test end-to-end data flow: real world simulation→ simulated sensors → ECUs

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
Required Skills:
* Master's degree on going in Computer Science, Automation, Electronics eng. or related field
* English / B1
* RESTful API design and integration
* Python and/or C# programming proficiency
* Git: Version control and collaborative development workflows
* Client-server communication patterns
* Asynchronous programming and event-driven architectures
* Docker containerization fundamentals
* Linux development environment
* Computer networks, communication protocols (TCP/UDP, REST, MQTT, WebSockets)
* Web technologies / UI frameworks (CSS, Javascript. React, or similar)

Nice to have:
* Experience with driving simulators (CARLA preferred)
* C/Cpp: Embedded firmware development for ARM Cortex-M/R microcontrollers
