Project Manager

The project:
The role will be recognized as the utility package manager responsible for managing all aspects of utility management. The average value of utility works on a major project is approx £3 million but can exceed £20 million. You will use project management skills to stay within scope to provide consultancy services necessary to manage (throughout the lifecycle process) all aspects of statutory utility assets and connections on construction projects at locations across the UK but predominantly in London, Eastern, Southern and SE regions.
Generally, the work is on the public highway and up to the supply point/meter; it does not include internal private supplies, however, cross-over is usually inevitable and you will be required to provide statutory advice in those situations.

You'll also be responsible for:
* Responsible for leading small to medium sized projects to deliver the agreed outcomes and deliverables within time, cost and quality requirements.
* Guides and coordinates with all relevant parties to understand and deliver project objectives and KPIs, providing day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team.
* Determines project management, technical services and external resources required for project/s.
* Delivers project objectives in line with the Project Execution Plan, leads and supervises the project team/s and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Monitors and actively engages in Health, Safety and Wellbeing aspects of the project at all stages.
* Prepares and modifies where necessary project plans and keeps them updated and relevant over the course of the project/s.
* Oversees project timeframes and project budgets, and ensures budgets are managed diligently and highlights any risks, challenges and mitigations.
* Collaborates with relevant parties/stakeholders and ensures robust quality systems are in place and suitably managed and monitored.
* Leads relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis where required and site walks and ensures these are suitably recorded.
* Partners with relevant stakeholders and is actively involved in risk management.
* Effectively coordinates and communicates with all project parties/stakeholders, ensuring completion of responsibilities/tasks and ensures suitable standards and records are recorded and maintained.
* Documents and takes ownership of project changes as and when necessary, tracking project changes.
* Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
* Working within a project team either through Mace construction or directly for clients.
* Moving along sometimes logistically complex site issues.
* liaising with many internal and external stakeholders is required.
* Supporting managers to ensure statutory supplies interface successfully with the work they are procuring on-site.
* Having project management disciplines including reporting, commercial understanding including value management, programme development/monitoring, understanding of safety in relation to utilities being delivered to a construction project and ensuring delivery against key milestone targets.
* Understanding the client's requirements, building a strategy to manage and deliver the best value.
* Interfacing with utility companies to develop and agree on preferred solutions.
* Managing a successful conclusion with support from our delivery partner, which includes:
* New temporary and permanent service connections
* Disconnection of existing services
* Abandonment of existing utility apparatus
* Diversion of existing utility assets
* Protection of existing utility assets.
* Data collection and surveys
* Drawing development
* Reporting
* Design procurement and technical review
* Programme development and planning
* Monitoring and management of the delivery of our services against the program
* Commercial review
* Utility Asset Construction methodology review
* On-site management of installation/surveys
* Stakeholder engagement management
* Method statement review and Safety Risk assessment
You'll need to have:
You have a professional qualification in project management or M&E management. You have proven experience working with utilities in a construction-based environment. You have recognized safety card such as CSCS or industry recognized equivalent. You have knowledge and experience of the utilities and construction industry is essential, in particular, a reasonable knowledge of Water, Sewerage, Gas, Electric, Telecoms copper, and fiber distribution systems, including supply application and disconnection procedures.
You have an understanding of procurement opportunities to deliver contestable works. And excellent interpersonal skills in creating, managing, and maintaining relationships, able to converse with clients and peers to the director level.
You'll also have:
Substantial previous work experience in project management (or equivalent).
MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS (or working towards) or local equivalent.
Tertiary qualifications in related (project management and/or construction related discipline), non-related degree or equivalent professional experience / apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable intermediate level of role knowledge.
Appropriate Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card or equivalent
