We are looking for a Principal AI Engineer to join our team in Czechia! Do you want to shape how LLM-powered solutions are designed and scaled across NN, and set the direction for enterprise AI? Then this role is for you.

Our mission at NN
Together with your colleagues, you will drive the design and scaling of advanced AI solutions across NN business units in Europe. You will act as a technical authority in Generative AI and Agentic AI, defining architectural standards, enabling innovation, and ensuring that AI solutions deliver real business impact.
You will work closely with engineering teams, product owners, and business stakeholders to translate strategic challenges into production-ready AI applications, aligned with enterprise architecture and Responsible AI principles.

Your responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end design of scalable, secure, and explainable AI solutions, with a focus on LLM-powered systems, agent frameworks, and RAG pipelines.
* Define and drive reference architectures, standards, and best practices for GenAI and Agentic AI across NN.
* Act as a technical authority and advisor across multiple AI squads, guiding solution design and reviewing implementations.
* Own and drive rapid prototyping of GenAI use cases (e.g. document intelligence, conversational agents, copilots) in collaboration with business stakeholders.
* Define and standardize LLMOps practices and tooling (e.g. MLflow, Azure AI Studio, Hugging Face Hub), including evaluation, prompt versioning, and hallucination mitigation.
* Lead integration of AI solutions into enterprise platforms (e.g. CRM, policy systems, document management), ensuring scalability, security, and cost optimization.
* Continuously improve production AI systems for performance, accuracy, compliance, and cost efficiency.
* Mentor senior engineers, guide technical leads, and contribute to building AI capabilities across NN.
* Evaluate and select models, frameworks, and platforms (LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, Mosaic AI, etc.) and support strategic buy vs. build decisions.

What we expect from you
* Proven experience (typically 7+ years) in AI/ML engineering, with a strong focus on designing and scaling complex AI systems.
* Deep expertise in LLMs, Generative AI, and Agentic AI, including hands-on experience with RAG, custom agents, and evaluation frameworks.
* Strong Python skills and experience with modern AI frameworks and tooling (FastAPI, Transformers, Hugging Face ecosystem, LangChain, OpenLLM, etc.).
* Solid experience with LLMOps/MLOps, including tooling such as MLflow, Azure AI Studio, or Databricks Mosaic AI.
* Familiarity with microservices architecture, API-first design, and event-driven or streaming systems.
* Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern data/AI infrastructure (e.g. Databricks).
* Familiarity with AI governance and privacy topics, including data masking, differential privacy, and enterprise governance frameworks.
* Strategic mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
* Advanced English proficiency for working in an international environment.
