Requisiti del candidato:
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Azure FinOps professional to lead and evolve the financial governance and optimisation of our cloud and infrastructure estate within a regulated legal environment. This role will define and mature the firm's FinOps capability, driving greater cost transparency, commercial efficiency, and accountability for technology spend, while ensuring alignment with firm-wide strategic priorities.
As a key bridge between IT, Finance, and Procurement, the role combines FinOps leadership, IT financial management, and vendor commercial oversight into a single accountable function. The successful candidate will shape how cost is managed, allocated, and optimised across a complex hybrid estate, embedding cost-awareness into technology decision-making and influencing investment choices at senior leadership level.
Working closely with IT leadership, Finance, and Procurement, this individual will take ownership of Azure consumption, broader infrastructure costs, and licensing and contract management, ensuring that financial insights are translated into clear, actionable decisions. Strong financial analysis capability, commercial acumen, and the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, including partners, will be essential to success in this role.
Why This Role Matters
As the firm continues to evolve its technology landscape and deepen its adoption of Azure, effective financial governance and cost optimisation are essential to ensuring that technological investment delivers sustainable value. This role is central to bringing greater structure, transparency, and commercial discipline to how cloud and infrastructure spend is managed across the firm.
Operating at the intersection of IT, Finance, and Procurement, this role will shape how technology costs are understood, allocated, and optimised within a complex hybrid environment. It will play a key role in embedding FinOps practices, improving cost accountability across practice groups and business services, and enabling more informed, data-driven decision-making at senior levels.
In a regulated, partnership-driven environment, the role also ensures that technology spend is managed with appropriate governance, control, and auditability, supporting both operational efficiency and compliance requirements while aligning investment with the firm's strategic priorities.
Role Focus
Primary Focus (Core Responsibilities)
Azure FinOps & Cost Optimisation
* Own and optimise Azure spend across the region
* Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities (rightsizing, reservations, savings plans)
* Drive cost awareness within engineering and architecture teams
* Embed FinOps best practices into day-to-day cloud usage
Financial Management & Visibility
* Manage forecasting and variance analysis for Azure spend
* Develop clear and consistent cost reporting for IT
* Improve cost allocation (tagging, showback) to increase accountability
FinOps Capability Development
* Establish and mature FinOps processes and governance
* Improve tooling, reporting, and data quality around cloud spend
* Act as the go-to subject matter expert for Azure cost management
Secondary Focus (Support & Collaboration)
Vendor & Commercial Support
* Support Procurement and Finance in vendor discussions (e.g. Microsoft, VMware, Veeam, Dell, Pure Storage, Arisa etc.)
* Provide cost insights and usage data for renewals and negotiations
(not expected to lead complex commercial negotiations independently)
Hybrid & Infrastructure Awareness
* Maintain visibility of broader infrastructure costs where relevant
* Support alignment between Azure and on-premise environments
(not accountable for full infrastructure financial ownership)
Governance & Stakeholder Engagement
* Contribute to governance, reporting, and audit requirements
* Communicate cost insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders
* Collaborate with IT, Finance, and Procurement teams
What We're Looking For
* Strong hands-on experience with Azure cost management and optimisation
* Experience in FinOps, IT financial management, or cloud cost control
* Good understanding of:
* Azure Cost Management / native tooling
* Budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
* Ability to translate data into clear, business-friendly insights
* Comfortable working across IT and Finance stakeholders
Nice to Have (Not Essential)
* Experience in professional services or regulated environments
* Exposure to vendor/licensing discussions (e.g. Microsoft, Broadcom, Dell)
* Familiarity with FinOps frameworks or certifications
* Experience with reporting tools (e.g. Power BI)
Success Measures
* Improved visibility and transparency of Azure spend
* Measurable cost optimisation (e.g. savings from reservations, rightsizing)
* Reliable forecasting aligned with Finance expectations
* Increased adoption of cost-aware practices across teams
Why This Role
This is a hands-on role with real impact, focused on building and improving how cloud costs are managed in Azure.
You will have the opportunity to:
* Shape FinOps practices without needing to own every commercial or vendor function
* Work closely with senior stakeholders while staying technically engaged
* Deliver tangible cost and efficiency improvements
