About AXA: AXA is a global leader in insurance and financial services, dedicated to helping customers protect what matters most to them. As the sixth-largest insurance company in the world, we provide a wide range of services, including health, car, home, and business insurance. We support millions of customers worldwide, helping them navigate life's uncertainties with confidence. AXA UK Support Functions look after our three customer-facing business units, providing the infrastructure and expertise to make sure we can be there for our customers. Job overview: We're looking for a talented Lead Data Modeller to join our Data Modelling function, leading a team of modellers to drive our data strategy forward. You'll provide expert technical leadership and practical hands-on support in designing, developing, and standardising enterprise data models. Your expertise will ensure our data remains consistent, efficient, and perfectly aligned with business needs and architectural standards. If you thrive on turning complex data requirements into clear, scalable models, we'd love to hear from you! Key responsibilities: Act as a technical authority on data modelling, establishing and upholding best practices, standards, and guidelines across all teams. Design and develop high-level conceptual, logical, and physical data models for critical enterprise data domains. Provide guidance and mentorship to both onshore and offshore Data Modeller teams, including technical oversight, design reviews, and quality assurance. Work closely with business analysts, solution architects, and data engineers to translate business needs into robust and scalable data models. Conduct data analysis and profiling to support the design and optimisation of data models. Ensure data models are integrated with metadata management tools such as Collibra or Erwin, to maintain a comprehensive data catalogue. Keep up to date with emerging data modelling techniques and technologies, recommending their adoption where suitable. Work arrangements: At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We're also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition. Your skills & experience: Expertise in data modelling techniques across conceptual, logical, and physical levels, with a solid understanding of various methodologies. Proven experience in a technical leadership role, including mentoring and guiding teams of data professionals. Proficiency with data modelling tools such as Erwin or similar platforms. Knowledge of database design principles, including relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases. Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail, ensuring accurate and optimised data models. Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
