Senior Software Development Manager - Media Analytics

Summary

Directs the activities of a software systems development function, software applications development function, and a software quality assurance function for software enhancements and new products, including cloud-based or internet-related tools

The opportunity

Adobe Streaming Media powers large-scale digital experiences, including live events and streaming platforms. These systems operate under strict requirements for latency, reliability, cost efficiency, and data correctness.
Media Analytics is a mature, mission-critical product where stability and predictability are essential. This environment requires thoughtful integration of AI-assisted analytics and agent-driven workflows within production systems.
AI capabilities are developed and deployed alongside real distributed systems, streaming pipelines, and operational constraints.
We are looking for a Software Development Manager to guide a group responsible for core platform and data services that support Adobe Analytics and Customer Journey Analytics. This position blends leadership of the team with technical supervision, emphasizing production-ready systems and operational reliability while facilitating AI-assisted features.

What you will do

This role leads and supports a team of 8+ engineers, providing structured feedback, mentorship, and career development advice while encouraging a collaborative and inclusive team environment. It also partners with recruiting to support hiring and onboarding, ensuring continuous team growth and engagement.
The role includes coordinating all aspects of building, developing, and operating distributed systems and services. It involves contributing to architecture and design decisions. The role also requires collaborating with Product Management and Architecture to define technical solutions. It ensures systems meet scalability, performance, and reliability requirements. The role supports prioritization and progress across multiple workstreams.
It also promotes strong operational practices, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response, while encouraging a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. The role supports the integration of AI/ML capabilities into platform systems, ensuring these features are accurately evaluated and monitored.

What you need to succeed

* Experience leading or managing engineering teams and supporting both individual growth and team development
* Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and cross-functional teams
* Experience building or operating distributed systems or backend services
* Familiarity with event streaming technologies such as Kafka or similar systems
* Experience with data processing frameworks such as Spark or Flink
* Understanding of cloud-native environments including Kubernetes, CI/CD, and monitoring tools
* Programming experience in Java, Scala, or similar languages
* Focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability

Nice to have

* Experience with observability tools
* AI/ML integration in production systems
* Experience in large-scale and high-traffic environments
