Overview We are seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to support the development of EV systems targeting ASIL-D and QM software. The role is strongly focused on ISO 26262 process application, safety analysis, requirements definition, and verification readiness. The engineer will work closely with system engineering, software development, testing, and quality to ensure safety objectives are correctly defined, implemented, verified, and auditable throughout the lifecycle. While for this particular role hands-on development is not central, the background ability to write software in C/C++ or Python, whether in an Autosar or non-automotive setting is nevertheless important. Responsibilities Functional Safety Process & Standards Apply ISO 26262 across the product lifecycle, primarily Parts 2, 4, 6, 8. Support definition and maintenance of Safety Plan, safety lifecycle activities, work products and evidence Act as a process authority, ensuring consistent and correct application of the standard. Safety Requirements & Analysis Analyze system and software requirements and identify safety relevance, derive functional and technical safety requirements, identify gaps, ambiguities, and missing constraints Support or perform HARA, safety concept reviews, impact analysis for changes Manage ASIL-D decomposition and interaction between ASIL-D and QM elements. Verification & Quality Gates Support Support definition and enforcement of quality and safety gates Review verification strategies and test plans for safety compliance Work closely with test and validation teams to ensure: Safety requirements are testable Tests are aligned with safety intent Participate in reviews and audits as required Software & Architecture Review (FuSa) Review embedded software and architecture from a functional safety perspective, including safety mechanisms, defensive coding techniques, ASIL decomposition, along with architects and other process owners Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as interface between system engineering, embedded software teams, test & validation, quality and compliance Support HW bring-up readiness from a safety and verification standpoint Contribute to future initiatives beyond the immediate project as needed.
