CREAF is seeking one (1) or two (2) research technicians to work on the EARTHWATCH Project (Wildlife in the Changing Andorran Pyrenees) with ref. 27629 the Earthwatch Institute.
Earthwatch projects involve volunteers working alongside scientists to support real-world environmental research, helping collect data and study ecosystems while promoting conservation and sustainability. The project "Wildlife in the Changing Andorran Pyrenees" focuses on monitoring wildlife in the Andorran Pyrenees to understand how climate change and land-use changes are affecting mountain species and ecosystems.
Both field campaigns will take place in the Ordino Valley (Andorra). The fieldwork will be carried out in a mountainous region with significant elevation changes. Although the weight of the equipment carried rarely exceeds 7-10 kg, the working days will be long and, in some cases, physically demanding. Therefore, candidates are required to have a good level of physical fitness.
A contract is offered linked to two fieldwork campaigns, which will take place from July 10 to 18 and from September 15 to 23, 2026. The salary will be EUR 995,36* gross per campaign period (corresponding to category T2A).
*This amount does not include travel expenses from CREAF, nor per diem allowances or accommodation, which will be covered by the project. Depending on the results, the possibility of continuation in the following years through longer periods will be considered.

MAIN FUNCTIONS:
* Preparation of field equipment.
* Carrying out the fieldwork included in the project: bird trapping, small mammal trapping, tree growth measurements, installation and operation (image review) of camera traps, and monitoring of nest boxes, among others.
* Accompanying international volunteers participating in the field campaigns
* One talk per expedition on a selected topic, delivered in English.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bird ringing permit and/or experience in the capture and handling of small mammals. It is essential that one of the two technicians holds a bird ringing permit and that the other has experience in the handling of small mammals.
* Good command of spoken English. The expeditions are carried out with international volunteers, and English is the working language throughout the entire period.
* Experience in the use of camera traps.
* Driving licence.

* Previous experience working with volunteers
* A valid first aid certificate
* Fieldwork experience in mountainous areasCandidates with a certified disability of 33% or more will be prioritized, provided the disability is compatible with the position's responsibilities.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA:
* Admission of candidates: Applicants must apply for the offer and attach the requested documentation, a curriculum vitae in English and a cover letter (maximum 500 words), until May 21h, 2026. Applications submitted to any portal other than the CREAF job board and the instructions included therein will not be accepted.
* Pre-selection: assessment of compliance with the minimum requirements of the job offer.
* Selection: evaluation of the pre-selected candidates through scoring based on objective criteria, interviews with a shortlist of candidates, and a proposed exercise.
* Final decision: if a suitable candidate is identified, they will be formally informed of their selection, and all other participants in the selection process will be notified by email.
