Description & Requirements

Bloomberg News is seeking a Leveraged Loan Reporter to join its primary markets credit team in New York.

You'll cover some of the riskiest debt deals in a market where private equity firms finance multibillion-dollar buyouts and large dividend payouts, while technology companies increasingly tap loans to help fund massive AI infrastructure investments.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of breaking news and building Wall Street sources to track North American loan sales as they are marketed to investors. This is a fast-moving beat that demands daily scoops on new financings powering some of the Terminal's most valuable functions. You'll also write with clarity for a broad audience and be comfortable digging into financial documents and datasets.

It's a pivotal time to cover the market. Buyout activity is rebounding, technology companies are raising unprecedented sums to finance the AI buildout, and borrowers across sectors are grappling with elevated funding costs. Meanwhile, software companies facing AI disruption must navigate looming debt maturities and refinancing challenges.

A strong understanding of corporate finance and debt markets is essential. The role involves close collaboration with reporters covering adjacent areas of leveraged finance, including private credit, junk bonds, private placements and collateralized loan obligations.

* Break news on North American leveraged loan financings
* Develop sources to generate high-impact, market-moving scoops
* Become proficient in analyzing deals and funding markets
* Explain what it all means to the broader financial system
* Cover the beat with enthusiasm, speed and accuracy
* Talk about your stories on Bloomberg TV, Bloomberg Radio and Bloomberg QuickTake
* Write insightful, thought-provoking stories that add value
* Collaborate with colleagues across our global newsroom

You'll need to have:
* Experience in financial journalism or leveraged finance
* Deep knowledge of leveraged loans, private credit or CLOs
* Ability to write quickly and clearly under deadline pressure
* Ability to generate exclusive, breaking news

Salary Range = 115,000 - 150,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
