STUDENT OPPORTUNITY: 8-month term, commencing May 2026, located in Edmonton, Alberta

Colas Canada is seeking a Civil Engineering Co-Op to support the Utilities Complex (UC) and Stops team as a Construction Field Coordinator Intern on the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT project. This role offers hands-on experience in construction coordination, safety compliance, and quality management. You will assist in managing site activities, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring adherence to project standards and schedules, while actively promoting high-quality workmanship and compliance with design specifications.
The duties will be varied and will focus on tasks required to meet environmental, safety, and design compliance obligations.
Candidates should be physically able to navigate uneven terrain on an active construction site and demonstrate a willingness to learn and contribute to a major infrastructure project.

Main Responsibilities

* Assist in ensuring compliance with design drawings, specifications, and construction standards, with a strong focus on quality control.
* Support quality assurance efforts to minimize deficiencies and ensure materials and workmanship meet project requirements.
* Learn and contribute to Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) in accordance with MIP quality policies.
* Help coordinate construction activities between trades and project teams to maintain smooth operations.
* Participate in client and stakeholder communication when required.
* Assist in monitoring project schedules and critical path deliverables.
* Support the preparation of site reports, inspection records, and turnover documentation.
* Participate in commissioning and turnover planning, ensuring quality standards are met at every stage.
* Promote a safe work environment through hazard assessments and toolbox talks.
* Support compliance with the Project Agreement, ECO Plan, Health and Safety Plan, and applicable legislation.
* Assist in site safety inspections and reporting.
* Other duties as assigned to support the Segment Manager and site team

Required Knowledge and Experience

* Currently enrolled in a Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related program.
* Strong interest in construction operations and quality management.
* Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam or scheduling tools is an asset.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
* Class 5 DL (GDL acceptable)
