On the campus, there is only the SU café, but there are plenty of bars and nice places near Thamassat university (a good opportnuty to meet more Thai from different backgrounds). For night clubs, the best is to share taxis to Bangkok.

As concerns nightlife, you should buy the Metro magazine, which lists the best restaurants, clubs, bars and so on monthly. There are different sports possibilities on campus, like swimming pool, golf course, tennis courts, badminton courts, squash courts, football grouds, table tennis and gym. Therefore, it is not necessary to go somewhere else. If you are interested in culture, you can find temples and buddhas almost everywhere in and around Bangkok. But also a visit in Ayutaya, Chang Mai and Chang Rai is of interest. If you have some time off, you can easily go travelling to one of Thailand's beautiful islands (Kho Chang or Kho Samui are rather pieceful with less tourists, whereas Kho PhiPhi or Phuket are filled with tourists) or spend some time in neighbouring countries, like Laos (absolutely the most amazing in my opinion), Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore or Myanmar. Moreover, as flights are quite cheap, you can book a flight to exciting Hong Kong.

Three main spots: Sukumvit area, Silom, Khao San Road. Latter is more a backpacker spot, the others are hit by Thais and foreigners almost equally. Each country has its own restaurant, but Thai food is delicous, if not minding spiciness. Fresh sea-food is especially around the Silom area quite good. The Hotel bars and lounges are a good civilzed start for the evening, and then it really depends... if you want to dig in the Thai culture a little more, just move a few blocks from the main spots, or alittle north of Bangkok. A must...? I would say a Thai disco, e.g. Dance fever, or Night Stadium (Rangsit), huge halls, with live performance. Real Thai, almost no foreigners.

There is not much nite life here in the campus except a voluntarily student run cafe to have some drinks at nite.

There is NOTHING to do around AIT. The nearest shopping mall is Future Park, which is about 15 km away. To go to Bangkok city takes about 1 hour by shuttle bus and costs 30 baht one way. Taxi takes about 45 minutes but costs about 250 baht. During the semester I seldom had time to go into bkk. AIT campus is peaceful, or boring, depending on how you see it... In BKK there are too many great nightspots to mention here. It is only too bad that BKK is quite far away from AIT.
