Personal spending habits
I spent a lot on travel as I wanted to make the most of this opportunity to see as much of Germany as I could. Wuerzburg has reasonably low living costs so this was less expensive.

Personal comments
I was just surprised by the initial outlay. I could only take 25 kilos of stuff on the plane with me so had to buy all my plates and saucepans and everything once I got there. Thankfully my flatmates had lots of stuff (like a hoover, not provided in German halls) and they let me borrow everything I needed.

Course recommendations
It's very hard to find out what courses are on offer and whether they are suitable for you. Try and get hold of the big course list (available to buy in the bookshops) before you start and then go and visit each department as soon as you can for a more detailed course list.

I wish I had known...
That its just the little things you're not used to that get hard sometimes. When I first went into bars and got table service, for example, I didn't understand the tipping system and just thought "why can I not get my own drink like at home". However, by the time I got back to England I was thinking "where's the waiter/ess!"

I think its a nice town and there are plenty of opportunities for travel but if you are serious about your studies it may not be for you. It was very hard to find the right courses to take.

Final comments
Where you go isn't so important, what makes it are the people you meet so get out there and join everything you can, make an effort with everyone you meet. Its also the best way to improve your language skills.

Airport nightclub outside of town was great! A big rambling maze of a place (so hold on to your friends tightly!) but with a good atmosphere and a wide variety of music.

It was great value and really nice accomodation. I was sharing a flat with two other German girls who I got on brilliantly with but I can see that if you didn't get on so well with your flatmates it could be difficult.
