Best thing is to share an apartment with other young people.If a room exchange is possible, I would definitely recomend it.

ESADE doesn't help you to find a place. There is a students residence, but extemely expensive. Accommodation is quite costly in general and hard to find. Best thing is to use personal contacts. Try to contact students from ESADE (intranet) or other exchange students who studied there or will study at the same time as you do.

You can find ANY kind of bars, cafés and clubs...I a sure everone finds their own favourites soon:)

For those coming in spring: in April and May it can still be very cold in bcn, so make sure you bring your scarf and jacket along;)! Most important: you'll have LITTLE time, so try to figure out what your personal priorities are for your exchange semester-then go for them!

If you stay only for 3 months, you won't have much time for travelling very far. So plan some time before or after your stay. If you want to work afterwards, start contacting companies already in your home country, as it is very difficult to find an internship in bcn.

Internationals should be involved more in activities and local student life.
Classes in general are quite interactive with case studies, guest speakers, etc... which I liked a lot.

The language preparation course offered by ESADE is a good start and good quality, but too short to be really helpful in the long run. You should already speak some Spanish before you arrive. In general I would say that it is difficult to improve one's Spanish as it is difficult to talk to and make friends with locals. Catalan was not a problem for me, everyone speaks Spanish in Barcelona. Try to live with spanish natives.

Try to cook at home at times!- if you think it is boring invite some friends!
Keep your eyes open for happy hours and free entrance flyers. Don't shop for clothes in Corte Ingles. Snacks can be very expensive as well. Watch out for sales.
