ESSCA have a very good optional French course. The teaching was outstanding. For those who wish to intensify their language learning, there is free French classes conducted by the Angers city hall, plus more French classes to do at the Université d'Angers. I found that the French class at ESSCA was quite sufficient. As a town to live in and practice the language Angers is quite okay.

Japanese language was very difficult to learn but thanks to our everyday lessons at the university, I learned fast how to speak in the everyday life and it helped me a lot.
Concerning my instruction language, the courses were done in English ,it was very easy to understand and speak with foreign student, and I am pretty sure that I progressed in English too.

At beginning of the semester abroad in a french country it was really difficult to manage communication issues but later as days passed i learned basics of french and then it was no so difficult to live and survive infact i made some very good french friends and can speak little french as well.

Mostly i was comunicating with international students, so mostly i was using english language, as well as my studies were also in english. Local language (french) i tried to learn by comunicating with local students, in public places and during the language lectures i had at university. At the end my french realy impruved, i could understand people speaking french and i impruved my french accent.

My French definitely did improve, although it was a gradual experience. There were many opportunities to speak French at ESSCA, because there were many group projects. Outside of university, some locals were pleased to chat and interested in my origins.

at university, everybody is friendly in general, even if you speak very bad the foreign language, they always try to help. on the other side, in social life, it's much more difficult to communicate especially with the older generation, as they only know french, and have difficulties to understand someone with an foreign accent.
