Overall
I wish I had known...
I didn't know that Fatih University was that far from the city center. That could have influenced my choice of university, but my experiences with the university proved to be interesting.

In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.

Personal recommendation
It's an interesting university in the sense that this university is considered one of the more religious universities in Istanbul. As i meet many westernized people in the centre where I'm living, it's interesting for me to hear another side of the story from the students and teachers in Fatih University. The people from the international programs office are very friendly and helpful, as are most people in this university. I wouldn't recommend this university to people who have difficulties with adapting themselves to totally different environments, especially if you're from a non-muslim country. If you're interested in these differences than you will find this an enriching place.

Final comments
Turkey is great for travelling. To begin with it's a very big country that provides a lot of cultural differences and wonderful sceneries of nature. So far i've been to cappadocia, ankara and the southwestern coast (antalya, olympos, kas and the butterfly valley) and i can recommend it to everyone who likes travelling. Especially the eastern part of turkey attracts me because of it's more eastern atmosphere, but as i didn't have the time so far, i didn't get there yet.

I have taken Java courses in my university in the first place. It was for learning basic concepts of programming and algorithms. My teachers has taught programming concepts very well. Also they introduced us new technology and libraries that we will use in the endustry such as Git, Pytorch, Keras.

Personal comments
Housing proved to be more expensive than i thought, especially if you want to live close to the city center. Also if you're staying longer than 3 months in Turkey, you have to get a residence permit. This costs about 60€ every 6 months, depending what your home country is. It's better just to leave the country every 3 months and come back with a tourist visa every time (only 10€, for me), valid for 3 months. You just have to cross the Turkish border and come back.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because the rooms in the dormitories that are provided by the university are about 70 km from the center of Istanbul. I chose to live in the center as this was an experience I wanted to have to get to know this city.

I didn't take the housing provided by the university, so i have no comments about it.

Languages
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
Language of instrucion was English and as my English was already pretty good at the time i came to Istanbul, i didn't have any difficulties with it. Turkish however proved to be a little trickier. As most people in Istanbul don't speak English i forced myself to learn Turkish. In the beginning i helped myself by learning basics like numbers (for bargaining!) and saying hello and the likes. After two months I started taking Turkish classes. With the other foreigners
I met I speak English or French. But overall English was the main language.
