The study is really good, we get a lot of personal attention from the teachers. The teachers know what they're talking about. A part of the study is in Dutch and another part is in English.

The accomodation service does not perform very well, I was just lucky to have this accomodation. A lot of my friends were accomodated in the near villages or had to pay unreasonable prices

Overall
I am a student here, have been for multiple years.

Take in consideration that I am a computer science (ICT) student here and that I can't really talk about the other courses on this school, because I've never have taken part in them.

So where do I begin?
Let's start off with the biggest problem this school is facing; They can't organize anything. Teachers often don't know or enforce their own rules, even though someone in a different class has very different rules.
Teachers never have any structure, and the way we get feedback from them always varies, which is real tiring because they get really upset if you don't do everything according to their own plan.

A lot of teachers don't even know their subject! I've gotten a fair share of teachers who've learned a whole other programming language trying to teach us C#. In the end, the smartest kid in the class has to teach everyone everything because the teachers don't know anything at all.

Speaking of which, another problem I have! Whenever you actually ask your teacher something, they often flat-out tell you to "just google it".

I can wholeheartedly say that I've learned more from the stack overflow community than I have from the teachers, which is really sad because I don't even know why I'm paying tuition at that point.

Another big problem is the way they keep attendance.

In college, the general rule is that a student is mature enough to understand how important your attendance is but they can't force you to stay if you really have to go for any reason and most of the time, they won't ask unless it's really important.

However at the computer science course at Fontys (let's call it 'FHICT' for short) they say that they follow that rule, only to play police officer and keep your attendance in check.

So what does this mean? This means that even if you work hard and get everything done far before the day ends, the teachers will still act out against you, resulting in you failing the class and having to start over, because you didn't stay until the end of the day (typically 04:00 PM in this course).

Do you have to work at 05:00 PM and do you have to leave the class a bit earlier, so you get to eat before you work? Too bad, guess you're just a bad student.

This also means that someone who doesn't know anything about the subject, but stays until the end of the day is more likely to pass than someone who shows up less but masters most of the subject, which is just absurd to say the least.

Pros
Cheap coffee, A very small but existent percentage of teachers are passionate and understanding
Cons
Terribly organized, Unnecessarily time consuming, Most teachers often don't know about their subject, The way of teaching changes every half year, Teachers treat you as if you're a kindergartner, Half year before you can teach about the subject you want
