"Luxury" goods like cigarettes, alcohol/liquor, make-up, chocolate, crisps are really expensive. But since Halden is close to the Swedish border, one should go shopping there now and then...

On he one hand it is quite nice that everyone speaks English, even in shops, but on the other hand it makes it more difficukt to practise the "normal" language since it is so much easier to express oneself in English!

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
The campus is very nice, but the economic faculty is still situated downtown in the centre, so it is about 3km from the campus to the faculty - and that every day! However, as soon as the faculty is also located on the campus, i would prefer living there again.

Personal comments
We had very good facilities: A big kitchen combined with a living room, washing machine and drying room, one living community og 8 student per house with two bathroom and two toilets. The rooms were about 16 square meters in average. Actually that is much better than I was used to in Groningen! Internet access, water and elictricity was included in the rent, and the nature was just beautiful. The only disadvantages are the quite high costs in Norway. But in comparison with the overall level of costs the price was quite decent.
