Housing
Type of housing: student hostel
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why?
We were only exchange students in the hostel. Even though we communicated in Spanish, noone really could speak the language perfectly. I think I would have learned it way better with a family

Personal comments
I mostly interacted with the people I lived with, who were all foreigners. Therefore we didn't really learn the language very well. Next time I would live with a family!

I wish I had known...
That Mexicans are not that fancy dressed how it was often written in books- I had the wrong things to wear with me.

The International Relations course with Duncan Wood. And if you have a problem you just have to tell the exchange office and they will try to help you the best they can

Final comments
Mexicans don't dress that fancy as it is written in most books (jeans are ok). To travel around by bus is pretty cheap and has a very good standard. Mexico City is not really nice and there is not so much to see, but the country itself is really amazing- try to travel and see as much as you can. Teachers of exchange students usually understand it if you are not there because you travel to another part to see Mexico.
