In academic terms terms it is a good university. Besides, and most of all, international students are treated very good. Integration is easy.

From here you can visit a lot of interesting countries or places like Russia, Sweden, Norway, the Baltic countries and Lapland so save some money to travel!..it's worth! Generally, Jyväskylä is an excellent place to go as Erasmus student. It's a students city and social life is really nice. You get to know a lot of people from all over the world. Lots of activities and events, sports,...Excellent!!

Very often courses are organized in a very short period of time (1 or 2 weeks..sometimes even 2 or 3 days!). Also quite often courses overlap each other...so you have to choose which one you're taking.

It would be good for students if the university could organize the timetables of the courses in a way that they wouldn't be overlaping all the time.

ALthough it is very hard to learn Finnish, almost everyone speaks English so, assuming that you also speak English, you should have no problems in communicating both in the university and in the country in general.

Food is definately more expensive than in Portugal - especially meat and fish. In telephone I spent less here because I use it less than at home. Nightlife is more expensive but I also had more nightlife here than i have at home. I travelled a lot visiting Finland's neighboring countries. Overall, life is more expensive but not as much as i expected.

Not as expensive as expected. As food is a bit expensive, lunch at the university cafeterias may lead to some savings.

Housing at this university is really good. Good apartments (small but with everything you need), good location, great environment - all the students living together...really good! Besides, the prices are quite low!!

Night spots: Kharma (the biggest disco), Raatikellari (the cheapest disco). Grand star cafe (to watch sports on tv). Events: stammtisch (international students' party every two thursdays).
