Housing
Type of housing: Private hall
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why?
The reason is clear: You get more in touch with native english speakers. In private hall there are only few native speakers.

Personal comments
I heard from other international students and it is also my experience: In Manchester it is not difficult to get a place to stay. But the prices are very expensive compared with Austria - but cheap compared with London.

Lidl, aldi and Primark :) The town offers a lot of student discounts here at restaurants and shops, so remember your student ID! Didn't expected that rent at student hall would be so expensive than private flat. Public tranportation is relative cheap here.

I am a very talkative person and you have to be to improve your language if you stay in England, because the majority of English people are quite reserved. I did two courses at a local language college what helped me a lot to improve my level of English. I recommend this to anyone who has enough time and motivation to do this.

Academic
Course recommendations
Choose whatever you like, it opens your mind a little bit and helps to improve your English, but unfortunately most of the courses don't count at all in Germany.

Well, it would be very nice to be able to do courses that take you further in your studies in general and not only specifically in England.

Make the most of this special year abroad. Meet people, travel, spend good times, because after it is too late and you will regret it! It is a wonderful opportunity for your background but also for you, as a person.

Manchester's well-known for its club scene. Clubs open and close, so it's hard to give recommendations. Make sure you do not miss out on the bars on Canal Street in the Gay Village, and explore the nightlife in Castlefield. It's top!
