being Ireland such an expensive country, I knew that the costs of living would be higher beforehand. I had been in the country before so I knew. But I even spent more money than I had ever thought. In Spain, I'd lived with my parents. The difference is huge.

Try to talk to someone who's done the same course on previous years. If not, you're gonna be a bit lost. Also, be pretty sure of the amount of credits you require. The system in Ireland is different too so be careful.

Si j'avais su

I had been in Ireland before so I was quite familiar with the country, I always knew that it was the ideal place for me. I wouldn't have gone anywhere else.

If Galway is the university of your choice, you're not gonna be disappointed. But take into account that you're gonna experience a different way of living. Therefore, be open-minded and positive (never think your country is the best in everything, it's just different) and try to have fun. Make the most of your Erasmus experience cause it's a once-in-a-lifetime one.

Well, the fact that I'm still living in Galway (and I don't plan to leave the place in the near future) sums all up. I'm half Irish at this stage and love it.

As a student of English in such a demandin university as Oviedo, my knowledge of the language was pretty good so I never had basic problems when it came to understand the locals. But I really improved as regards fluency and the use of informal expressions. I learn a bit everyday as I'm always mixing with Irish people.

The King's Head was and still is my fave pub around the city. And for a good nite out, CP's is the place! Anyway, everywhere in Galway is good craic! And you can go out every single nite of the week and be sure you'll find a great atmosphere...

Pourquoi?

I'm actually living in Galway again at present. The on-campus accommodation was far too expensive and I needed a change. I'm happier now living in a lovely apartment in the town centre! It's better value for money

even if it was way too dear, I have great memories of the months I stayed there. It gave me the oportunity to live with Irish people and also to make great friends. i don't regret having chosen that accommodation in the first place. But a year is enough, I think.
