A lot of work but a lot of academic help!
Arina B
Russia, Undergraduate
Computer Science / IT, 2021
Overall
Generally, the structure of the studies involves a lot of constant work - weekly assignments, midterm and final exams. However, there is also a lot of academic support from the teachers and other students (such as paid graduates). Abilities to study abroad on one of the many campuses around the world, and a relatively diverse classroom. There is also an incredibly wide variety of classes one can take as electives, from Love studies to Machine Learning.
On the other hand, non-academically the staff is mostly not very useful. Very little help with international problems (such as, international internships and so on). It is also ridiculously expensive, as are the dorms and the dining plan (mandatory in the first year). The dining plan options are mostly pretty bad, although it is possible to find some options that are not too bad. Also, the campus is in Manhattan, which can be fun, but is also quite dangerous - there are almost weekly attacks of some sort.
Overall, if your plan is to stay in the US, and especially in New York, after your studies, NYU is not a bad choice. If not, it might be too much of an investment for what it is.

I like the on-campus life very much. Faculties are nice. I also like the students that I teach the lab to.
