The Havana Bar is a perennial student favourite thanks to the cheap drinks. Thursday night is the best and this is the same for most locations in the Hague as this is 'student night' and there is no cover charge. Other popular haunts include Club Silly Symphonies and El Sous.

Although I had asked for an individual room, I was assigned a shared apartment room. In the end though, this was ok and the location was very good, right in the centre of town and just a 15 minute walk to university.

All my classes were taught in English and all young people in the Netherlands are fluent in English as are most of the other international students, though some struggle.

By far the cheapest supermarket is Aldi. The most expensive is Albert Heijn and Konmar falls somewhere in the middle.

I have to say that this is not the most exchange friendly university - I had quite a bit of trouble getting enrollment organised to begin with and had very few opportunities to socialise with Dutch students. However, I made very good friends with other exchange students and over all had a positive experience.

Almost every course in the IBMS programme includes some component of group work so make sure you pick a good group from the beginning.
