Caffe Belvedere,situated on a rocks with balcony, old furniture and books really
temptate you to sit there all day long chatting with some friends or just reading a book of poetry.
One spot next to the University library where most of the students meet at night especially weekends.
Weekend were mostly organized by the local IAESTE group otherwise is would be quite boring.

The old students residence was pretty expensive relatively to the facilities avaiable. The food in a students restaurant was not very good and also the cleanliness of the toilets was quite bad sometimes but a new buildind was a hole new world, very comfortable and modern and almost the same price, so you should just be lucky to get the room there.

Switzerland is a perfect country for learning many languages. Most of the people there speak both Germanand Franch and at least people at the University are also fluent in English. On the street Swiss German can be a problem even if you are a german native speaker but everybody can speak also German properly.

Fribourg is a small but lovely town with quite many students but is can be very quite on weekends and holidays. The University is quite small but everything is easily accesible. The student dormitory is just accross the street.

The train system is great in Switzerland so you can get wherever you want very fast and comfortable and if you get a halfprice ticket even not very expensive. Mountains are great for hiking and lots of beautiful lakes.
