Personal recommendation
Be prepared, if you choose to study performing and scren arts, to be on campus from 08.30 till 16.30 everyday!!! This was strange for me because I am used to a much more relaxed study culture at my home college! The teachers did not really care much if we shoved up or not! But after getting used to it it was nice and I felt that i learned more from it. And it was easier to get used to the "real life" i.e work life!

Overall
I have completed postgraduate diploma in business from Unitec. I had to put a lot of hard work towards assignments and exams. it was a great experience to receive continuos support from tutors and even management. It was worth the effort and gained a sound academic hold of subjects. My lecturers were very supportive and helped me whenever I was struck with my academics. After hearing a lot of experiences from students in other private institutions at NZ, I really feel lucky to have chosen to study at Unitec under the guidance of experienced, helpful tutors and unbiased management

Pros
Renowned institution at NZ. Fees are lesser compared to universities. Job opportunities are more in Auckland compared to other locations. That even helps students to earn their living while studying and then get full time job later.

Stay at campus if you like to meet people, do your stuff at school cause teachers can get grumpy, and enjoy it

Course recommendations
Don't let yourself be tricked with the unitec courses description, they are for my experience a lot more easier than they say they are. I did industrial design and took some web design courses, they would ask me to have a "proper" training with the software and said the course was challenging, and it turned up to be just basic stuff so be careful and don't be afraid to take "difficult" courses (level 7) the same applies with the number of courses, they will take you to take 4 I did 5 and had no problem at all, and still got a lot of party going hehe

REVIEWS BY INTERNS AT Unitec Institute of Technology
ABOUT
UNITEC began as Carrington Technical Institute in 1976 in response to the increasing demand in the Auckland area for vocational tertiary education. Established on farm land west of Auckland city centre, it focused on programmes in building and business. In the years that followed, the institute grew rapidly and expanded the range of courses offered. In 1985, the institute was renamed Carrington Polytechnic and was recognised as a progressive multi-disciplinary tertiary institute.
By 1993, six degrees were offered alongside an extensive range of diplomas and certificates. The publication Vision for a Decade confirmed a new strategic direction for the institute and a new name was chosen to reflect its unique combination of university and polytechnic education. In February 1994, Carrington Polytechnic became UNITEC Institute of Technology. Over recent years UNITEC has strengthened its position of excellence in tertiary education.
