Logement
Type de logement: Appartement/maison
Organisé par: Indépendant - seul choix possible
Si j'y retournais je choisirais: Appartement/maison
Pourquoi?
The campus of our University was out of Barcelona. So no interest living there. The advantage of living in an apartment: Independence and also the amazing opportunity to have roommates and then to be able to build relationships with people who were first random persons, and now are like Brothers and sisters to you.

It's hard at the beginning, finding your own place and stuff. But don't worry, then those moments are the one you'll laugh about soon. Of course, "www.loquo.com": great website to search for apartments in Spain.

Honestly, i thought i would talk better spanish than i do. I did improve my level though. In my dreams, i would live with 5 or 6 people from everywhere and we would only be able to communicate in Spanish. The thing is: easier to say, harder to find. I mean i do not regret one thing about my experience except only having more roommates would have been awesome!! But anyway, i lived with 2 american girls and one french guy. We had the most amazing time ever. It just sucked a little bit because we had big plans about talking spanish in the house, etc. and obviously we ended up talking pretty much only english. What is still really good. Just not exactly what you would expect when going to Spain! Basically most of our friends were English speaking! A few were spanish, but weren't the ones we saw most of the time. I don't know what else to say. I guess everybody has is own experience. Mine wasn't the best one to actually learn the host country language, but will still be one of my "bestest" memories/experience ever.

Alright, it's kind of hard responding to these questions since it is the first ever i've been living on my own. But what i can tell is: Food - cheaper in Spain, but the diversity of products not as good as in France. Telephone - we couldn't get a real contract one, because we weren't staying 18 month. so we had to get used to the prepaid cell phone. Which meant getting used to not call as much as i did back in France since Prepaid cards are really not advantageous. Housing - the prices of rent are cheaper than in France. But compared to a couple of years ago got more higher. Personally we had a 110m² and paid 1200euros per month divided by the 4 of us. It wasn't bad at all. Plus it was located in a great area of Barcelona. Nightlife - obviously cheaper than in France, Paris. Travel - cheaper because gas cost less than in France. And then because in general the standard of living is cheaper. Overall - to me cheaper BUT still spent more than in Paris. I would say honestly aroung 700€ is good to not worry too much about the money.
