The center of Madrid is very good,Plaza Santana,Sol.There are mainly bars, but are for all kinds of music preferences, english hits or spanish music.Moncloa is a place you should visit as well as the bars near the Bernabeau, although a bit "pijos". Drinking is very cheap in Spain, and especially chupitos=shots! You should definitely go to Suristan, for Latin music, Joyeria, for shots and english dance music, Palacio Gavinier, if I remember correctly the name, for the international nights. You will definitely enjoy!Near the university, Momentos is the best bar!

The University is outside Madrid, but Madrid the city is amazing. In my experience it is one of the most alive cities in Europe. Night spots: La Botellita, Serrano 41, Kapital, Joy, Avenox, O´Connel. Spain is the country of bars and banks, thus you can never see them all. Just buy the "Guia del Ocio" (weekly) for only 1 euro and you get a pick of everything is to see in Madrid: museums, bars, resturants, shows, corridas, etc.

in madrid there are more bars and clubs than you could ever hope to visit in a lifetme!! huertas (around pl. santa ana) is an any-night-of-the-week party area, but can also be amongst the most expensive/crowded on weekends because it is the main tourist hang out. try tribunal or chueca for alternative bars and clubs.

I really enjoyed the travel opportunities. I took trips to Granada, Segovia, Aranjuez, and El Palacio Real. There is quite a bit of history in Madrid. I also attended the Reina Sofia Museum, El Prado, and El Museo Archeologico.
