At first it was difficult to understant the andalucian accent, as they speak very quickly and cut the words in half. I joined a theatre group and it was the best way to integrate with local students and at the end of the year I had no problems in communication.
The academic system is very different to England and you have to be more patient. It is mainly teachers that rule the class you do not really have the chance to speak out. Still keep on trying.

I prefered the literature courses to history and I took up Italian but teaching is not as good as in England. You do not even have conversation classes.

Make sure to travel loads as this is a unique oppurtunity and no matter how hard it is try to get to know more local people then Erasmus students. Intercambio which is exchange of talking english and spanish is a great way to start, also I got to know my closest friend that way.

Pourquoi?
I think living with random people and having your own space you are more independent and learn to integrate easier with people from different countries and cultures.

Cafe Malaga' students do theatre performances once a month right in middle of the bar ' La Casa de la Juventud gives the oppurtunity to young creative people whether it is dance, theatre, music, paintings...you can even have your own exhibition. Jazz cafe every wednesday jazz session for new bands!
