One has the opportunity to live with people that speak the foreign language,which makes it easier to learn as people can correct you. Furthermore, one has the chance to get to know people much easier. Usually people who have already lived in the city know the places to go and have usefull tips and tricks. Also, if one is lucky and gets to share the flat with locals it is much easier to make local friends, to pick up phrases and to identify oneself with the culture in the foreign country.

As Erasmus student one has the choice to mix and match within the different departments. Choose a course that is not too hard, but not too easy either, as you will want to challange yourself but also enjoy your time here.

When I am at my parents place I do not have to pay rent and usually spend less on food. I spend more on travel, because I take the chance to see a little bit more of the country if it is possible timewise and financially.

Nothing that I did not know before from previous oversee-stays. If anything, keep on going. There might be or more will most likely be times that will be hard (i.e. cultureshock, homesickness, etc.), but think about the fact that there have been people who went through exactly the same as you do and they were able to cope. And so will you!

Be patient. Things may take a bit more time than you are used to (Administration).
