For learning Spanish it may be more advisable to go somewhere further North. The accent is sometimes absolutely unintelligable in Seville. However the city is amazing and must be seen. Try very very hard to make friends on your course, it will be hard due to the language barrier and the fact that most students won't live near you but coursemates are vital to passing the exams.

It was extremely difficult at first to understand and to make myself understood because of the strong Andalucian accent. It became easier as time progressed but slowly. Before going I thought I was reasonably good at Spanish as I had traveled to South America without any problems, Spain is a different kettle of fish.

Open an accout as soon as you arrive to avoid transfer charges from home. Bring money from home in cash or traveler's cheques as this also avoids charges. Always ask about possible charges, there are much more banking charges there than here.

The home students in Seville tend to live with their parents on the outskirts of the city which means that the students living in the centre tend to be Erasmus students. This does make it difficult to make Spanish friends and leads to a slightly isolated foreign community in the centre of Seville. I never saw the university accommodation but its location, away from the main art of the city was a major drawback in my eyes.

Best place for lunch is Taberna Los Coloniales, Plaza San Pedro, great food great atomsphere, very cheap. The best spot breakfast in Seville, and possibly Europe (excluding France who have breakfast monopolised) is Taberna de los Terceros, Plaza de los Terceros, Tostada con tomate y aceite, genial. Both of these are near the Plaza de la Encarnacion which is the best area to live in.
