Erasmus is an experience of a life time. Take advantage of every moment, every little chance you get to do things and learn from life. The knowledge and experience i got cannot be obtained in any university or formal education institute. It's a way for young people to discover themselves, get in contact with different people, cultures and ways of thinking, sense the freedom but also their responsibilities towards themselves and the rest of the people.

I wish I had known...
That some of the courses marked as 'taught in English' were actually taught in pt. And that i would learn pt too fast, enough to study on it. That the weather in porto is not too hot cause its a northern ocean city. That the water in the ocean never exceeds 20 degrees. That most of the locals are stupid and r very different from us.

Introduce a fast pt language course before the studies start! Revise some of the courses! Reduce or take away the cost of the residence (in Sweden Erasmus students don't pay at all!) This is a private uni with all the sequences. It is not the best uni in the world and the knowledge is sometimes bad in some fields.

In Spain it is better than in Pt, on many parameters. It is unfortunately very hard to travel by hitchhiking in Pt, esp.if u r a nice girl. And it is hard to find a job, even for the locals

not a good choice for ones that want a superb academic experience, goos for those who cannot (like me) participate in Erasmus (has a 'visiting student' system)

Porto is a great city, with superb atmosphere, but don't expect 'typical' portuguese weather-it does rain here and in winter is cold and unpleasant. if you don't mind -great choice!

A residence is a good place to start meeting local people and other Erasmus students. If you are going not for a very long time and want lo meet local people I recomend it.
