TRy to get to know the local people asap! Sometimes it's easier to stick to other international students sharing the same difficulties, but that is not the point when you to a foreign country, is it?

Warm and welcoming university
Maria P
Portugal, Graduate
Language, 2021
Overall
The university of Aveiro provides internship and exchanging opportunities abroad! It depends on the department you are studying at, but I applied for an Erasmus+ exchange and everything went pretty good. Through Erasmus+ you can also apply for internships during the degree. For post-degree working opportunities and internships, the university offers each year a so-called "Feira de Emprego", an event for networking with national and international companies.

Advice: take some warm clothes because in winter it's quite cold and most Portuguese houses doesn't have central heating. Ask Portuguese what to visit-sometimes they know small and very beautiful places that you cannot find in any guidebook.
