Personal spending habits
I spent more in food because it's more expensive in switzerland than in spain. Telephone was cheaper. In spain I live with my family so I don't spend anything in housing. Nightlife is more expensive in switzerland. And I travelled more in switzerland than I usually do in spain.

Personal comments
The best is to ask other students where they usually go out at nights to save some money. The chepest supermarkets are the migros ones. They even have a really cheap mobile phone company.

Personal recommendation
I would definitely recomend it. In my field of studies (pharmacy) they are really good. It's not easy at all but you'll learn much more than any other erasmus and in my opinion the experiece includes fun and academically it's very stimulating too.

Personal comments
I experienced difficulties in the situations descrived above at the begining as I could speak just a bit of german. But I managed to learn the language pretty good and after some months I had no problem. The dialect in the german switzerland is really hard to understand but fortunatelly the academic language is the normal german and every german swiss can speak "high german" without any problem.

Housing
Type of housing: Found University residence after 2months in a flat
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Because it gave me the chance to meet many other students and to practice the language with them, It's also a cheap option to live in the city center, normaly near the faculties and the resources are good.

They didn't organice the housing for you which is pretty useful when you are a foreign student searching for a room from your country. But in the city there are a couple of good university residences as well as many students sharing flats.

The bar rouge is a very special bar on the top of the highest building of basel. A bit posh but you can't miss it at least once. The Herbstmesse as well as the art fair are just a couple of the many remarkable events in the city. Basel is full of museums you need to visit. In the tourist information point they can provide you with a leaflet of around 30 museums in Basel. I love the Beyeler Foundation and the Tinguely museum. Swimming in the Rhein river is a must.
