Learnt basic Finnish to enable a very basic conversation and directions etc. Finnish people's English is of a very high standard.

Finnish is the local language, but almost everyone (especially young people) speaks English very well--some better than native English speakers! There is always someone around able to translate for you if you run into someone who does not speak English.

Mainly it was easy, because almost everybody knows how to speak or understands a little english. But after a couple of weeks i was able to understand some basic words and even phrases in finish which turned everything much easier!

It was a very good experience to attend courses in english, it was helpful and a key factor on my english language skills development. Interact with professors, colleagues and so on daily in english was very good to me.
