Food is quite affordable here and very multicultural. You can eat a meal of plenty of food for just $5 or 6 dollars. Local phone calls are free of charge. However, taxes on drinks are really high here and any drinks at night are very expensive. For example, a glass of wine in a restaurant can cost you $5 dollars!

Food was expensive -- in particular fresh produce. The ONLY University in walking area to campus is the Metro right nearby. I think they take advantage of that and charge a lot for fresh produce.
If you want to eat healthfully it will get kind of expensive.
Telephone.........we used calling cards so it was a bit more expensive than at home.
Everything else was good!

Food can get expensive. I highly suggest cooking if you live on campus!
Having said that don't neglect eating out -- a lot of restaurants are fabulous.
Oh and there is a bank right on campus so that was completely easy to take care of.
I would, however, say that there was limited access to the internet -- which was dissapointing.
