Växjö Universitet

The language of introduction is English. Since I have successfully finished a placement in the UK, I did not have any difficulty with that. There is a course Swedish for Beginners, which I followed. That is a very nice way of mastering the basic knowledge of the Swedish language.

The only thing that you might not like, is the time away from your family and that you get a bit homesick. That varies from person to person and will always happen to some extend in an international experience. Please do not let that be a reason for not going. Most of the time, you do not even have the time to think about that. Your agenda will be very full with loads of wonderful international activities. The time I was there, for example, every nationality threw a party in which you'll have lots of fun and learn so much about their culture simultaneously.

There were no financial surprises for me, because on beforehand, Växjö Universtet will send you a booklet with valuable information. They also give an indication of how much money the experience will cost you alltogether.

Växjö Universitet is very well organised. It has its own housing officer. She is a wonderful person that does a real good job at finding housing for international students. International students will live off campus, but that is not a problem, because you live together with other international students. And your neighbours and your neighbours neighbours will be international students too. If you are willing to study at Växjö Universitet, housing is no problem whatsoever.

On campus there are two clubs to go to. And they are great! Off campus there is one more studentpub. A lot of international students go there, because they live so close to it. Next to that, you have your regular clubs and bars in Växjö. It's not a very big town (75.000 inhab.), but there are a handful of nice clubs/bars to go to. The university is very active in organising parties and events (among which a visit to Stockholm) for international students, so you will not be bored.
