Looking back I think I should have researched the university a bit more throroughly. I was not happy with some of the academic staff and the exclusion of international (esp. Asian) students. Integration seems to be a serious issue!

I'm writing a research thesis and found that I was only given very little support. My supervisor is great but the rest of the department have been very reserved. So if you find it hard to work independently, a research thesis probably isn't the best choice!

I think the department could make a better effort to include new students, I'm the only postgrad student without a previous degree from Vic Wellington to study there and often feel excluded. In fact, I think I'm the only international postgrad in the department.

Wellington's Victoria University was created through an Act of Parliament in 1897.A pattern of growth was quickly established in 1897. Student numbers rose from 254 in 1905 to over 700 in 1923, with constant additions being made to the original red brick building over the same period.
