The Team:

Based in several locations in Europe and internationally, this roles provides considerable exposure to senior executives inside and outside the bank. Equally, you will liaise with senior stakeholders in the US and Exco members in EMEA. Exposure to private offices of Governors of Central banks, national and EU politicians, Ministers, EU officials is also part of the role.

Role Description:

SVP, based in Brussels, you will be required to support the company's business objectives in the EU, with a specific focus on Germany, and will be part of the International Government Relations team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the leading financial institutions in the world. As a member of the Government Affairs team, based in Brussels, you will be required to support the company's business goals in Europe and act as part of the wider EMEA Government Affairs team.

You will be responsible for managing the company's public policy strategy development and implementation on a regional basis, including education and advocacy with government officials you will be trade association and coalition relationships.

In this role you will also be expected to identify and address legislative and political risks and opportunities impacting our company (and industry). You are going to establish and maintain relationships, as appropriate, with public officials. Working collaboratively with internal partners as well as Public Policy colleagues you will be advising senior stakeholders of pending legislation and public policy issues.

Responsibilities:
* Advocacy with EU policy makers, government officials, stakeholders
* Advocacy with German government officials, policymakers, stakeholders both in Brussels and in Germany
* Manages contractors (consultancies) as well as trade association and coalition relationships.
* Policy and legislative analysis in the development of advocacy and influencing plans where appropriate, with focus in Brussels and Germany
* Contact building and networking with key officials and politicians in the EU institutions, Member State Permanent Representations, trade associations, stakeholders etc.

What we are looking for:
* Solid grasp of EU institutional and decision-making process and of German policy framework
* Financial Services sector experience is an asset, with a working knowledge of the key public policy issues which impact the sector.
* Experience of working in Brussels is essential. Experience of German policy is also required.
* You will most likely have experience working in the EU or German institutions, government relations/public affairs consultancy, or in a government relations/external affairs function in a financial services organization or an industry association.
* You will have excellent inter-personal skills
* Corporate mind set
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple issues, and process and summarize complex information orally and in writing in a way, which maximizes advocacy effectiveness.
* Fluent in English and German is essential. Knowledge of a 3rd language would be desirable.
* Several years of relevant experience would be an asset
